Cherryhill's Blossom Festival 2018

This Spring school holidays, we’re excited to be opening the gates to our Yarra Valley orchard once again for our annual Blossom Festival.

Open 10am-5pm Wednesday 26th September – Tuesday 2nd October including Grand Final Weekend. It’s the perfect day out to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and the magical sight of a cherry orchard in full bloom!

So why not pack a picnic, bring family and friends to wander amongst rows of cherry blossom, enjoy live local music, giant lawn games, selfie photo fun, our farm gate café, food trucks, sample our cherry beverages and treat yourself to our famous cherry ice cream.

This year we’re adding even more fun with hands-on workshops for kids and adults and free face painting for the kids.

Only 1 hour from Melbourne, come and enjoy Spring at its most beautiful.

Ps. Although we love dogs unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the orchard during the festival.

Blossom Festival Workshops
We love our bee friends, and whilst they might be little, they’re essential to growing our CherryHill Orchards cherries and indeed to most of the world’s food. This year we're excited to be running a number of bee workshops during the Blossom Festival run by our local bee expert Holly Hale. Dates and pricing will be available soon so please register above to find out more information.

Busy Bees Workshop
This fun, engaging and interactive session will stimulate all the senses. The Busy Bees workshop is tailored to provide interesting information about what makes up a hive, the bee life-cycle and how the bees make honey! Time will also be spent talking about how the bees help our environment, why they are so important in our food systems and sustainability and how to respond and behave around bees in our natural play spaces.

Holly brings in her observation hive so that the children can see a real honey bee colony in action. A demonstration of beekeeping tools and suit are provided along with a children’s sized suit and veil for the children to try on. Of course, you couldn’t learn about bees without tasting some honey too!

Beeswax Food Wrap Workshop
Beeswax is amazing stuff! During this workshop, you will learn all about beeswax, how honeybees make it, its amazing antibacterial properties, and how we can use it to reduce our footprint on the planet. Each participant will make their own beeswax food wrap to take home on the day.

Beeswax food wraps are fantastic for replacing your single use glad wrap or zip lock bags, and then thrown into our garbage, into landfill, before often ending up in our waterways and oceans! Not only are beeswax food wraps great for the environment, but they will save you loads of money too. With a few simple ingredients, and some everyday items, you will learn just how simple it is to make these at home and play your part in the war on waste!
