Home-Start Volunteers offer their time freely; most are parents or grandparents themselves. Volunteers are linked to families on a one-to-one basis to provide support. Home-Start Volunteers can also assist by giving support and friendship on a short or long term basis.

How will your Home-Start volunteer help you?

Volunteers offer:

» Friendship
» Mentoring and practical support
» Help with your children
» Help with attending appointments
» Reading to your children
» Connection to other supporters
» Lessen the feeling of isolation
» Visit once a week for a minimum of two hours
» Help gain confidence in your parenting role

Support is tailored to suit your needs.

If Home-Start can be of assistance, the Volunteer Coordinator will introduce a volunteer to your family. It is up to the family, the volunteer and the coordinator to determine when the visits happen and how long they continue.

The coordinator maintains close links with both volunteers and families.
Self Referrals are welcome.
